Getting Started

Step 1. The invitation to perform a self-guided Inspection

After purchasing your insurance policy, your underwriter sends the information to Bigfoot Inspections.

Next, you receive an email with a unique code that corresponds to the address on your policy and the policy ID.

This invitation may come from bigfootinspections@flyreel.co , ashley@cig-llc.biz , or support@bigfootinspections.co and no longer arrives as a text message.

Hello! You recently purchased an insurance policy with Bigfoot Insurance. As your insurance agent (Agent Name) may have told you, an inspection of your property is required.

To get started, please download the Bigfoot Inspections mobile app to capture a few photos and videos at the property address.

The entire process once you download the app should take less than an hour and must be completed within 30 days.

These codes are associated with your policy.


FAQ: How do I know if I completed the requirement and fulfilled my obligation to the carrier?

A: If you provided photos of the electrical panel and water heater, and the app thanks you for completing the process, you’re all set.

Most carriers won’t ask you for another inspection for your renewal for the following two years.

Why do I need an inspection?
Like most insurers, your carrier requires an inspection to understand the unique aspects of your property and ensure that you have the proper coverage and rates.

Who should do the inspection?
You or someone you trust to do it on your behalf such as your insurance agent or a property manager. Please note that unless it is rented out annually, photos inside the home are required.

Can I send pictures?

We no longer accept photo submissions outside the Bigfoot Inspections App unless specific photos were not provided in the initial self-inspection. If you think you are missing something, here is a list of photos that are required by the carrier https://www.bigfootinspections.co/photos

Why can’t an inspector come out?
If you do not consent to using the app, you can contact your agent or email us at support@bigfootinspections.co to cancel this request. They will work with your underwriter to order a traditional inspection for an increased fee at the market rate in your area. However, if this is not completed within 30 days of bind, the carrier will send a notice of cancellation. The app removes the hassle of scheduling a third party to conduct the inspection before your policy cancels.

Okay, I’ll do the inspection. What do I do?

The app provides an easy, quick, convenient and secure way for you to provide important information about your property. This puts the power in your hands to complete it at a time that is convenient for you and makes you a stakeholder in loss prevention.

How does the app work?
The app guides you through your property to take videos and photos. As you do this, the app uses artificial intelligence to scan for aspects of your property for loss prevention purposes.

How long does it take?
Depending on the size of your property, it usually takes 35 minutes to an hour to complete. If you're unable to complete the inspection in one session, you can easily pause and resume at a later time.

What happens when I’m done?
When you’re done, the app securely sends your inspection to our inspector for evaluation after preliminary AI scan. The underwriter will contact your agent if they have any additional questions or recommendations. Please allow 30 days for review once completed.

Q: "Do I need to use the code on MY cell phone?"

A: You can use any mobile device that can download the Bigfoot Inspections application on GooglePlay or iTunes. Ironically, it shouldn’t be too hard to find us in the simple search bar as Bigfoot is uncommon.


Q: "What is my unique code?"

A: You should have received an email with a unique code. However, if you are unsure of the code, please contact us right away at 719-476-0107 or email our support team Support@bigfootinspections.co

Q: "Why do I have to do this?"

A: It is typical for unique home insurance policies to require loss control inspections to ensure that they have accurate information for underwriting and risk management.

Q:"But why?"

A: Our AI technology spots potential property and liability hazards. In the grander scheme of things, it keeps insurance rates lower by catching things like structural defects and other hidden hazards. 

Q:"when do I have to do the inspection?”

A: We recommend performing the inspection in daylight hours. It only takes about 20 minutes. TIMEFRAME: The inspection must be completed within 30 days after the policy is issued.

Q:"Can I do the inspection somewhere else?”

A: The inspection is ordered based not the policy ID, phone, email, and address of the insured. If you do an inspection at a different residence, the system will fail to validate on the first step. You’ll be able to proceed but it will not fulfill your obligation of an inspection for the policy at hand.

Q:"I did the inspection. Now what?"

A: Let us know! Call us 719-476-0107 or email us at Support@bigfootinspections.co and we will let your insurance agent know the requirement has been completed.

Q: “How do I take a photo of the roof?

A: In our inspections process, we ask you to take a photo of your roof. This does not mean from a bird's eye view, but rather a photo that is taken on the ground but with a wide view or back on the street to show the roof as clearly as possible.

Q: “What if I cannot go inside the home?”

A: We ask if you have access to the home. Interior photos are required for all inspections except for annual rentals. Please note that this is checked against the information you provided the carrier. For example:

Once you select the use of the home, there are some follow up questions about access to the home. If you do not have access, please pause and resume when you or someone else does have access to the home. Please chat with our in-app support if you have questions.
